Amphitheater Announces New Naming Rights Sponsor And Unveils New Brand, Logo, and Several 2012 Performances

New West Presentations, the management company behind Kansas City’s beloved outdoor concert venue, Sandstone Amphitheater, announced today that the venue is now officially named Cricket Wireless Amphitheater, a title change as part of a new partnership with the wireless service provider. New West Presentations has also recently renewed a four-year contract with the Unified Government of Wyandotte County, Kan. to manage the facility and grounds. New West Presentations previously managed the facility from 2008 – 2011. Along with a new name, several performances of the 2012 summer lineup were announced today, including Country Throwdown, Rock N’ Roll Dream Concert, Vans® Warped Tour, Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, and Summerdaze Festival.
Country Throwdown: May 20
Cricket Wireless Amphitheater will kick off its summer season on Sunday, May 20 as the third national stop for Country Throwdown, featuring Gary Allan and a lineup full of other well established and up-andcoming country artists. The stop at Cricket Wireless Amphitheater will be the tour’s third stop of more than 15 stops nationwide. Tickets for this event will go on sale on Saturday, March 31. Vans® Warped Tour ’12: July 9
The annual Vans® Warped Tour will once again make a tour stop in the Kansas City metro at Cricket Wireless Amphitheater on Monday, July 9 and feature more than 30 acts during the concert. This national tour will stop in more than 40 cities nationwide throughout the summer months and feature a variety of alternative, metal, rock, punk, and ska bands. The Rock N’ Roll Dream Concert: July 14
The Rock N’ Roll Dream Concert, a show comprised of all classic rock tribute bands, returns to the Cricket Wireless Amphitheater stage on Saturday, July 14. Tributes to Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, U2, and The Eagles are planned from bands including Brain Damage, Houses of the Holy, Rattle and Hum, and 7 Bridges Road. Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival: July 17
Rock and metal bands come together for the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival featuring Slipknot, Slayer, Anthrax, and many more on Tuesday, July 17. Motörhead, the well-known British heavy metal group, will join the tour as the first summer tour that the band has done in years. Tickets for this event will go on sale Friday, April 13. Cricket Wireless Amphitheater Will Continue Incorporation Of Green Initiatives
Cricket Wireless Amphitheater will continue the Earth-friendly initiatives put in place in 2008 by New West Presentations when the operations company assumed management of the venue. New West Presentations will continue to keep the venue green with practices such as:
• The use of only biodegradable beverage cups
• High efficiency toilets, urinals and faucets
• ENERGY STAR compliant lighting and appliances
• Free parking for all hybrid and electric cars
• On-site recycling teams that sort through all post-concert trash, separating recyclable contents
